Australia Post & Genos

Australia Post and Genos will work together over the next three years to develop the emotional intelligence and motivation of 45 graduates recently accepted into Australia Post’s new Graduate Program.

The emotional intelligence program involves a series of sessions over the course of the graduate program around the Genos emotional intelligence model. These sessions have been designed to accelerate the development of graduates’ understanding of themselves and others, not only at work but in their personal lives as well. Sessions focus on enhancing self-awareness, empathy, and personal resilience among other interpersonal skills viewed by employers as “very important” to their success. Graduates’ motivation development involves the use and debrief of our new motivation assessment that provides four unique profiles: Ideal Role; Ideal Manager; Ideal Team; and Ideal Organisation. Many graduates know what career path they wish to pursue. After all that’s why they choose to study a specific degree like accounting or engineering. However, very few graduates have considered the type of organisation they want to work for; the type of leader they’ll respond best to; and the type of team that will enable them to be their very best. The Genos Motivational Profile and debrief is used to help graduates consider whether Australia Post is a good motivational fit for them and whether they are a good fit for the organisation. Managers receiving graduates go through a similar experience to help get the marriage right and to accelerate the understanding of each other in this important area of work. Motivation contributes to about 30% of an individual’s performance, yet it’s often overlooked by organisations. Australia Post is one of the first organisations to utilise Genos’ unique Motivational Fit technology in a graduate intake program.
